As most of you know, Sinful Colors nail polish is currently on sale for 99¢ at Walgreen's this week, pretty sure 9/8/12 is the last day. Whenever Walgreen's has this sale, I try to pick up at least a few. So this week when I stopped in, naturally I found my way to the Sinful Colors and started browsing. I picked up a bottle and noticed it was Nirvana, which I already have. But then I was like WHOA WAIT A MINUTE! The label said "Matte Nirvana"!!! So of course I had to pick it up even though I already own Nirvana.
Fast forward to today, I sit down to change my manicure (finally!!!) and of course went straight for the "matte" Nirvana! Nirvana, by the way is a lovely taupe color that leans more towards a brownish, in my opinion. So, I started to apply the first coat followed by the second and imagine my surprise when "Matte" Nirvana dried with a gorgeous shine even without top coat! That's right folks, "Matte" Nirvana isn't matte at all, not even close! Slightly disappointing if you were specifically looking for a matte polish but I love the color so it doesn't bother me.
It applied like a dream, very smooth and effortlessly. It really dried with a great shine even before top coat.
The first two pictures are "Matte" Nirvana with no top coat.
Before I did this manicure, I didn't even think to do a comparison of the two so after I already did it, I removed two fingers to do a comparison.
The first and third fingers have the "old" regular Nirvana, the second and fourth fingers have the "Matte" Nirvana. It is hard to tell in the photos but they do have a very, very slight difference in color. The "Matte" Nirvana is slightly lighter than the regular Nirvana. And again, you can tell that the "Matte" Nirvana is definitely NOT matte!
In the end, I like both of them but for some very odd reason, I like the "Matte" Nirvana better.

DeleteSo funny that "matte" Nirvana isn't even matte! Someone messed up. They are gorg though. I have Nirvava, but it has no sticker. I had to figure it out by comparison. Lol.

DeleteI picked up Nirvana (original? lol) at the sale along with about 15 other bottles of Sinful Colors LOL! I too adore Nirvana! But so far my "favorite" is a tie between Rain Storm and Leap Frog.
